Finland, 2026.
In the heart of a wintry Finland, two female photographers, 林盈蓁 Ying-Zhen Lin, aka Zephyr, and Laure Abouaf, construct an experience of movement based on attention and circulation, thus eschewing the conquest of the landscape.
Rejecting the spectacular vision of the North, the series explores contemporary ways of inhabiting the world: moving, waiting, sharing temporary spaces, and engaging with territories transformed by human activity and climate change. Framing then becomes an act of selection but also of resistance: showing margins, thresholds, traces, rather than a static image of the landscape.
A perspective on Finland offered by two female photographers of different ages and cultures, whose sensibilities resonate with each other in a shared gentle attentiveness.
(…) creation linked to the imagination opens us to surprise, to the dreamlike, and to adventure, where control can then slip away. But as Edgar Morin states: “It’s because we’ve become too secure in our theories and ideas, and these have no structure to accommodate the new. Yet the new is constantly emerging. We can never predict it as it will appear, but we must expect its arrival, that is to say, expect the unexpected.” Thus, linking creation and the imagination means breaking with this resistance to the new, to adventure, to what disorients us, and allowing these fluctuations to take hold in order to foster a genuine creative process.
